World of Color is to Disneyland what Fantasmic is to Walt disney World, and what evening show experience would be complete without a fantastic meal and a preferred seating pass? None, that’s why you can choose a dinner package for both parks!
Walt Disney World offers a choice of Mama Melrose, Hollywood and Vine, and the Brown Derby. Disneyland offers a sit down meal at Ariel’s Grotto (no characters appear at dinner) or Wine Country Trattoria. There’s also a picnic package available that offers 4 different cuisine choices: All-American, European Antipasto, Taste of Asia, Mediterranean Vegetarian. There are also two children’s meal selections.
Having eaten at both restaurants in Disneyland, I can say the Wine Country Trattoria was a far better meal and experience. Everything about the trattoria draws you in, starting with the buttery colored terra cotta walls that welcome you either into the dining room or onto the terrace. The terrace has burgundy umbrellas complete the feel of a Tuscan villa and take your al fresco experience to a level of posh sophistication.
The World of Color dining package offers a three course meal from a price fixe menu. The menu selection was expansive, particularly for a price fixe and offered an option for everyone. The salad included a mix of arugula, fennel, red onion, spiced walnuts and goat cheese and was complimented by a fig-balsamic dressing. A soup selection was also available and changes daily. Main course offerings included herb-roasted chicken breast, seafood pasta, a daily sustainable fish, braised lamb shank, roasted beef tenderloin or broccolini aglio olio (a vegetarian pasta dish). Dessert was served on a platter made to share with finger sized samplings of trattoria tiramisu, mini fruit crostada, vanilla bean panna cotta with fresh fruit and chocolate and hazelnut mousse with lemon creme.
The portions were generous, the service prompt and the atmosphere indescribable. Roof overhead but open air upper decks transported you to a vineyard in Napa valley or a villa in Tuscany.
Not included in the price fixe menu are the 25 different wines from various regions, these are also available in a “wine flight” package.
Don’t let the dining experience dissuade you from your purpose, the server will bring your preferred seating pass for World of Color at the end of the meal.
Disney Food Report Tip: I dined with a large party of people and we each had something different, there were NO complaints at the table; which is unheard of in our dinner crew!
