The Main Street Confectionary is a great place to spend the last minutes of your day at the Magic Kingdom before you say goodbye to Mickey. Whether you are picking up a snack for your monorail ride back to your resort or you are spending the last of your snack credits, there are a lot of great details in this Main Street establishment.
The Confectionary is all about candy and if you take a moment to look around you will see nods to era-appropriate candy making. Two of my favorite details are a pair of miniatures located behind the main display case. These are tributes to chocolate making from the turn-of-the-century.
Toasting
Inspired by the newfangled ironworks we saw in Chicago, I cooked up this oven to roast my cocoa beans to perfection.
Breaking & Winnowing
This device of my own invention, cracks open the cocoa beans and blows away the husks, leaving only the tasty chocolate insides.
The references to the city of Chicago obviously allude to the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. This is another detail that helps tell the story of Main Street, USA and put the area into a proper time period.
